Generating 3D assets with AI
We’ve made significant strides in generating images, text, and audio with AI. However, one question that frequently arises is whether it's possible to generate high-quality 3D assets. While this has been feasible for some time, the quality has often been lacking—until now, with the launch of Meshy.ai.
Prompt: Create a detailed 3D model of a T-Rex dinosaur, from head to tail, in shades of red. The model should show accurate anatomy: muscular build, sharp teeth, expressive eyes, scaled skin with folds, and a long, segmented tail. Use varying reds for depth. Include realistic textures and ensure joints are animation-ready. Deliver in .obj or .fbx format, optimized for high-quality renders. Provide front, side, and top view. Link to mode
Try it out for yourself on their website. It’s incredibly easy to use, and your first few generations are completely free. The platform offers several cool features:
Text to Texture: Upload your 3D mesh, provide a prompt, and receive a fully textured model ready for use.
Text to 3D: Simply type a prompt, and you’ll get a complete 3D model, including textures.
Image to 3D: Upload an image, and the platform will generate a full 3D model with textures included.
Integrations: Meshy.ai offers plugins for Blender and Unity, and supports most export formats, including FBX, USDZ, GLB, and OBJ.
Generating DOOM with AI
As we've often discussed, AI can generate various forms of content. Google is pushing the boundaries even further with the launch of GameNGen, a tool that can generate the entire classic DOOM game using generative AI.
The video above demonstrates how GameNGen recreates DOOM without using a traditional game engine. It generates the game at 20fps in real time, and during testing, most people could hardly distinguish it from the original. This highlights the model's ability to generate and manage complex gameplay environments in real time, opening up new possibilities for gaming and beyond. From more immersive virtual worlds to real-time simulations for autonomous vehicles, GameNGen offers a glimpse into the future.
Introducing Our Virtual Character
For a long time, we've had various "virtual humans," from games like The Sims to virtual robots like customer support bots. Generative AI represents the next step in enhancing the realism of these virtual humans. We're also exploring the possibilities with today's technology and have created our own virtual human.
