Google DeepMind AlphaGeometry: an olympiad-level AI system for geometry. (link)
As you might have noticed, using ChatGPT AI’s are not that good at calculus. For example if you ask it to write a paragraph of text around 250 words long it will never actually write a text 250 words long. Big AI research groups like Google DeepMind, OpenAI and Anthropic are hard at work to get a solution to this problem. This is because it is really useful for AI systems to understand calculus, it would start to be able to do computer science. Which allows it to start improving its own code. (AGI alert…)
At Google DeepMind they achieved a breakthrough in complex geometry problems. It performs at a level comparable to a human Olympiad gold-medalist, a significant advancement in AI reasoning within mathematics. In a challenging set of 30 Olympiad geometry problems, AlphaGeometry successfully solved 25 within the standard Olympiad time limit. This is a notable improvement over the previous state-of-the-art system which solved only 10.
DeepMind has open-sourced the AlphaGeometry code and model, encouraging further exploration in mathematics, science, and AI. This move could significantly influence future developments in these fields.
Dora AI, websites in seconds
Every business needs a website these days, and sometimes you just need something quick and easy. For this you will end up using Wordpress or something like Squarespace, not ideal but you can get something up and running relatively quickly. But Dora AI enables you to make websites in minutes instead of hours.
It has a couple of new features that allow you to build websites in minutes instead of hours. First text to website. This feature allows you to type a simple prompt, when carefully crafted this prompt outputs a nice looking website. It also has Generative 3D interactions, this turns 2D images into 3D objects that make for better immersive experiences. It also has the capabilities to make animations that are linked to these 3D objects.
With some thoughtful prompting you turn these objects into moving animations. This gives your website an immersive feeling within minutes.
This all sounds really cool and interesting, but it is important to note that it feels like a really cool template. Just like Wordpress but faster and with more personalisation, it will not replace custom development any time soon. At least, that’s what we think.
ByteDance joining the text to video game
Tech companies in China are trying to keep up with American tech giants. Due to the closed nature of Chinese tech we can’t see much of it, but ByteDance just launched a new research aimed at generative AI.
The model is called MagicVideo-V2 and it works by generating a first unique image from the prompt given by the user. The system then automatically generates another 94 frames that are close to the starting image, when these 94 frames are stuck after each other a video comes to life. It seems to be on par or even better than the AI video platforms that are widely known like: Stable video, runway and Pika.
This year is promising to be the year of high quality video generation with AI. If we follow the trend line image generation followed we will have high quality imaging within 2024, which allows for very cool content we could never imagine before.
