#17 It's all in the music this week
This week we're focusing on a number of music-related matters. After some rumors, there has finally been a major launch of the so-called 'Suno killer' named Udio. Additionally, we look at a Dutch YouTuber who has set up a completely AI-generated radio station, and we've found an interesting plugin. Let's go!
Udio, a new music creator tool developed by ex-Google Deepmind devs
In recent weeks, the popularity of the AI music creation tool Suno has grown enormously. This has made competitors realize that they themselves must come up with equally good or better tools to compete. This week we saw the launch of the new music creation tool Udio, developed by former Google Deepmind developers. This tool essentially works the same as Suno. By entering prompts, users can generate their own music tracks.
With the app, users can create tracks in their favorite music styles. Udio can also generate vocals in various languages, including Japanese and Russian. To create a track, the user first types in a prompt, just like with the music tool Suno. Based on that, Udio creates two different tracks. Afterwards, the user can continue to work on the track, for example by adding lyrics or more tags.
The tool is currently free, and users can create up to 1200 tracks per month. For now, the developers are mainly focused on improving sound quality and adding more languages. In the future, more tools will also be available for musicians, including the ability to easily add external tracks.
Have you already tried making your own music? We are certainly very curious to see where this competition will ultimately take us!
Radio station solely with AI generated music and hosts
Over the past few weeks, many of us have started using Suno to create AI-generated songs. If you haven't tried it yet, check out suno.com. Suno is great for making or improving background music, but it also makes us think about other uses. What other music-based products or services could benefit from this technology? An interesting idea from Dutch YouTuber Jeffrey Wirtz of “@Egbertkanaal” is to start a radio station. (In Dutch!)
Think about traditional radio stations like Skyradio, which just play popular songs mixed with ads. What if we replaced that with a Twitch livestream that uses only AI-made songs from Suno, calling it radioHDFM? Even the DJs, music, and ads could be AI-generated.
This concept showcases AI's potential and reminds us that while technology can change how we manage simple playlists, it can't replace the unique personalities and real content in media. This change could transform our approach to radio entertainment.
Airen 4D - an AI render engine
Airen 4D, an innovative Cinema 4D plugin developed by Merk (mervkilson), leverages the power of Stable Diffusion AI models to generate photorealistic renders from simple block-out geometry and text prompts. This tool adds intricate details, lighting effects, and realistic textures to basic 3D shapes, streamlining the creation process.
Currently available for pre-order on Gumroad for $199.99 (Windows only), Airen 4D offers a range of features, including customizable AI model selection, unlimited image resolution, and the ability to generate AI backgrounds and 360-degree skies. While best suited for still images and early design exploration at present, users can control the AI's influence on the geometry.
Airen 4D has the potential to significantly impact the 3D design and visualization industry by saving artists and designers time and effort in the early stages of the creative process. As AI technology advances, tools like Airen 4D will likely play a crucial role in shaping the future of 3D graphics and visualization.
